The ‘super-school’ screen printing course at Harvest was brilliant! After arriving with about a million designs in my pocket, I discovered we would be making ‘hand-cut’ stencils for most of the course. Doh! My ridiculously detailed designs were null and void. In the end our ‘swiss repeat multi directional’ patterns (now there’s a mouthful), placement prints and tea towel designs worked out a treat.
- memphis candy – pink
- memphis candy – orange
- memphis candy – pink /grey
- pink wren & stars
- retro tea towels – black & white
- retro tea towel – mustard and teal
Here’s an example of the ‘making of’ process:
- Swiss repeat pattern sketch
- stencil cutting
- drying out stencils
- hanging out finished prints
- doodle drawing
- tea towel artwork
- artwork transparency
- tea towel bg stencil
- tea towel stage one
- printing
- tea towel drying
- all in a row
The teal and mustard colours on the tea towel looked a bit ugly in the end. (They dried differently than I had thought.) Hence the black and white prints I whipped up later.
